Mapo Tofu (麻婆豆腐)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cartons soft tofu
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 head minced garlic
  • 2 sprigs green onion
  • Dou Ban Jiang bean paste (豆瓣酱)
  • Soy sauce/Sesame oil
  • Sugar/Salt/White pepper
  • Cornstarch


Directions:

  1. Heat wok over medium heat
  2. Stir fry ground pork until semi-cooked (white color)
  3. Add sugar/soy sauce/garlic/dou ban jiang to ground pork (flavor to taste)
  4. Add soft tofu
  5. Add a bit of water
  6. Bring to boil
  7. Add cornstarch slurry
  8. Turn off heat
  9. Add white pepper/green onion
  10. Add a bit more soy sauce/sesame oil to finish
